Title:FACULTY POSITIONS IN MOLECULAR GENETICS
Description:The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine has tenure-track faculty positions available at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels. The research focus for this recruitment is in any area of molecular genetics which complements our existing research portfolio. Examples of current faculty interests include the molecular basis of early development, the role of signal transduction pathways and epigenetics in tumorigenesis and embryonic stem cell fate, the molecular biology of human tumor viruses, as well as DNA repair mechanisms that impact cancer and aging. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is consistently among the top ten in NIH-funded medical schools in the U.S. and is located in one of America’s most livable cities.

Requirements include a Ph.D. and/or M.D., pertinent postdoctoral experience, and the potential to develop a strong independent research program and attract extramural grant support. Applicants for appointment as associate professor should have an established track record of independent publications and funding. All faculty members are also expected to contribute to graduate and medical school teaching activities.

To apply, please email your cover letter, curriculum vitae, a one-page summary of your research plans, and three letters of recommendation to: jobsearch@mmg.pitt.edu For additional information about the Department and the School, please visit our website: http://www.mmg.pitt.edu/index.htm

Preference will be given to candidates whose completed applications are received by June 1st, 2009. The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action Equal Opportunity Employer.
