Why did you choose the University of Pittsburgh?

I choose the University Pittsburgh predominantly for joining Professor Gao’s lab for its intensive research conducted on the mechanism of one-carbon metabolism in KSHV infection.

Research Interests

One-carbon metabolism is a complex network of biochemical reactions that involve the transfer of one-carbon units, usually in the form of methyl groups (CH3), between different molecules. This process is essential for various cellular functions, including DNA synthesis, amino acid metabolism, and the regulation of gene expression. I am interested in the role of one-carbon metabolism in viral infections. Understanding the interplay between viral infections and one-carbon metabolism may provide insights into potential therapeutic targets for antiviral strategies.
